I don't think there is a pi1 pronunciation, besides in Taiwan. Should all be pi3

匹 has (at least) three uses
- used in words like 匹配, 匹敌, 无可匹敌, etc, meaning "matching" or "comparable to"
- used in words like 匹夫, 匹妇, etc, which refers to individuals or ordinary people, and 单人匹马, 单枪匹马, etc.
- as a counter for multiple things, but mainly for large animals like horses, zebras, goats, etc, for bolts of cloth, and for horsepower.

Editor: Regarding Taiwan pr., see

Diff:
- 匹 匹 [pi1] /mate/one of a pair/
- 匹 匹 [pi3] /classifier for horses, mules etc/Taiwan pr. [pi1]/ordinary person/classifier for cloth: bolt/horsepower/
# + 匹 匹 [[pi3]] /(bound form) matching; comparable to/(bound form) alone; single; one of a pair/classifier for horses, mules etc/classifier for cloth: bolt/horsepower/Taiwan pr. [pi1]/
+ 匹 匹 [[pi3]] /(bound form) matching; comparable to/(bound form) alone; single; one of a pair/classifier for horses, mules etc (Taiwan pr. [pi1])/classifier for cloth: bolt/horsepower/
