heard the wife say 'where is the 头梳?'. maybe she need to disambiguate shu1 梳 with another shu1 书. or maybe she want to disambiguate shu1 with the english word 'shoe' :D code-switching introduces more ambiguities
------------------------------

Editor: Unlike 书 (in the sense of 'book'), 梳 is a bound form, not a word. So you don't say "Where is the 梳?" – you have to make a word by combining 梳 with other characters, as in 梳子 or 头梳 etc.
Diff:
# 頭梳 头梳 [tou2 shu1] /comb/
# 梳篦 梳篦 [shu1 bi4] /comb/
#
- 梳 梳 [shu1] /a comb/to comb/
+ 梳 梳 [shu1] /to comb/(bound form) a comb/
+ 頭梳 头梳 [tou2 shu1] /comb; hairbrush/
+ 梳篦 梳篦 [shu1 bi4] /combs (in general)/(archaic) to comb one's hair/
