1) Various dicts such as GF, LA, GR, K say that 肛 refers to the rectum and anus, not just the anus.

2) The current definition "/rectal prolapse/variant of 肛[gang1]/" suggests that 疘 can mean either
a) "rectal prolapse", or
b) "anus; rectum" (as a variant of 肛)

However, GF, for example, says that 疘 is only used in the word 脱肛/脱疘, and is therefore not a general-purpose variant of 肛 that could be used to write, say, 疘門 instead of 肛門.

(which is only to be expected, given the "illness" radical of 疘)
Diff:
- 肛 肛 [gang1] /anus/
+ 肛 肛 [gang1] /anus; rectum/
#
- 疘 肛 [gang1] /rectal prolapse/variant of 肛[gang1]/
+ 疘 肛 [gang1] /used in 脫疘|脱肛[tuo1 gang1]/
#
+ 脫疘 脱肛 [tuo1 gang1] /variant of 脫肛|脱肛[tuo1 gang1]/
# 脫肛 脱肛 [tuo1 gang1] /rectal prolapse/
