-------------------------------

Editor: In that Baike article, "showy" corresponds to 拥有排面 (rather than 排面) in their example sentence.
Other examples:

The earliest dated references I found for 排面 (as a neologism) were from 2019.

There is another sense that is related to the display of products on shelves.
Ex.
- "I also came across this term [排面] in a training document for a large retailer. There's a photo showing holes on the shelves due to people buying products. The instruction was to organize the front of the rows (facing the aisle) (整理排面) by pulling merchandise forward so the rows are even to make the shelves look full and to make it convenient for customers to make purchases."

The following example (from a novel) concerns a lineup of seven people for a group photo, and I'm not sure whether it's a rare sort of usage.
"Liu Yan was at the other end, next to Feng Xiaogang, forcing a smile, her eyes lowered just as they were in the [photo] of her alone."
Diff:
+ 排面 排面 [pai2 mian4] /the front of a lineup of people or things (esp. the front row of products displayed on a shelf in a store)/(neologism c. 2019) (coll.) ostentation; showiness; impressiveness/
