But practically nobody had even heard of "quiet quitting" until a few weeks ago, and we don't know whether that term is going to catch on long-term. It's too early to say. If it doesn't, your proposed definition will increasingly tend to confuse people who missed out on the TikTok frenzy of August 2022. Even now, many people regard it as a misnomer. Besides, "quiet quitting" means "no longer subscribing to the hustle culture mentality that work has to be your life", and you could argue that our present definition pretty much covers it, using well-established terminology. I don't think our present definition is perfect, but on the whole, I'm not sure that adding those two English terms makes the definition better. They are both nouns, for example, whereas 躺平 is, in essence, a verb. Example: 有多少钱能躺平一辈子呢？ |
