<< review queue entry 71033 - submitted by 'pzelchenko' >> Going through student introspective essays so you might get barraged; sorry. Context is: "虽然有点心灵鸡汤,但说的也很有十分中肯不无道理" ------------------------------------ Editor: 1) "you might get barraged" Haha. Well, let's see how we go. Only two so far, I think(?) 2) I appreciate you including that context sentence. Thanks, it's helpful. 3) The phrase "used in the negative" in this dictionary would mean that people say things like "不是心灵鸡汤". But I think you mean "used with a negative connotation", i.e. disparagingly, as in your context example: 虽然有点心灵鸡汤... 4) Note that we already have the following entry: 雞湯 鸡汤 [ji1 tang1] /chicken stock/chicken soup/(fig.) chicken soup for the soul – i.e. feel-good motivational stories (often used disparagingly because the stories don't really effect change in people's lives)/ And there are derivative terms such as 雞湯文 (defined by Wiktionary as "inspirational article (often implying little real content)"). |
