"streamer" is inspired from this translation of luoto xiangzi on J: "at funerals, he would bear a wreath or streamers inscribed with elegiac couplets, following the others through the streets, neither happy nor sad, only to earn a few coppers. 有出殡的，他替人家举着花圈挽联； 他不喜，也不哭，他只为那十几个铜子，陪着人家游街" though the translation is faulty: it's not "a wreath or streamers", but logically "a wreath with streamers" ---------------------------------- Editor: Yes, I see the problem – not a good definition. It is indeed in ACE and many subsequent dicts. I think "funeral decoration" is probably better than "funereal decoration" – just as they say "funeral scrolls" rather than "funereal scrolls" in the example below. 沒有輓聯和花籃， The funeral was conducted in the absence of flowers or traditional funeral scrolls; 祭台兩側的輓聯則寫著「前半生興學，後半生紓難」，「是一代正氣，亦一代完人」。這不是一般應景的溢美之詞，而是當時新加坡僑界對陳嘉庚發自肺腑的讚頌。 while banners either side of the memorial read "He spent the first half of his life promoting education, and the latter helping others," and "Conscience of his generation, paragon of virtue."
