<< review queue entry 68835 - submitted by 'ycandau' >> This, it seems, is not recognized in dicts. in TJQ, 掤 [peng2] is universally used, Tw and PRC alike. It cannot be a miswrite as it's always 掤, in good-quality context too. TJQ jargon is very specific but usually chars are pronounced with their usual value. So I'm just baffled. ---------------------------- Editor: It's in Wenlin: 掤 [bīng] 箭筒盖 (archery) lid of a quiver (to keep arrows from falling out) (cf. 弸堋) [péng] (太极拳) tàijíquán term Also in plenty of webpages, of course. << P'eng (Chinese: 掤; pinyin: péng) - An upward circular movement, forward or backward, yielding or offsetting usually with the arms to disrupt the opponent's centre of gravity, often translated as "Ward Off." >> I've used a spelling of tai chi that's in M-W and Wp. |
