I think "baffle" is completely wrong.

baffle :
To confuse or perplex, especially so as to frustrate or prevent from taking action:
- 'a patient whose condition baffled the physicians.'

LA @ 羞辱

The process of getting expelled so humiliated the girl that she ran away from her uncle's home, which is where she was living.

today's schools widely employ methods of surveillance, punishment, and humiliation, all of which attack a child's dignity and create hostility between teacher and student.
Diff:
- 羞辱 羞辱 [xiu1 ru3] /to baffle/to humiliate/shame/dishonor/humiliation/
+ 羞辱 羞辱 [xiu1 ru3] /to humiliate/to shame/humiliation/indignity/
