But I think that usage like - "中成药为什么大面积偷加西药？" and - "Windows 7 系统大面积出现 0X000000F4 蓝屏死机" and - "深圳航班大面積延誤" for example, is figurative, indicating a large *number* of instances, rather than a large area in which the problems are happening. I imagine that could be the reason why 大面积 is in "New HSK 7-9". Why would they include it if it simply meant "large area" (大 + 面积)? It's possible that the "massive scale" sense of 大面积 doesn't necessarily apply only to *problems*, but I didn't come across counterexamples. More examples ~ 投资者担心会大面积出现公司债务违约。 investors feared that a wide range of firms would be forced to renege on their debts. 这就是银行主导的大面积会计管理欺诈行为。 This was an epidemic of accounting control fraud led by the banks. 这是在大面积偷窃我们的成果 Our honey is being brazenly stolen on a massive scale! |
