Also worth noting is that once the Airport MRT system is operational, travelers will be able to check in at Taipei Main Station, including checking their luggage, meaning less hauling around heavy bags.

One problem has been that, because of price competition, the quality of the tour group experience has been degraded. For another thing, safety concerns have been raised by serious accidents at high-profile tourist sites. A third problem has been that the main tourist spots are overcrowded. And a lot of visitors, especially elderly ones, just don't like being rushed around on tour buses from place to place like sheep, able to get only the most superficial understanding of Taiwan.

Editor:
1) I don't think you're right to say "rush around".

The English you quoted for your last example doesn't match the Chinese.
Here is how TP actually translated
"Independent travelers can take their time strolling about"

Did you get "rush" from the bit where it says "[they] just don't like being rushed around on tour buses from place to place"?

2) Other snippets from TP:
"Although she is blind she can get around anywhere."

"after school you will go right on time to the shop run by old Auntie on the first floor and wait there, and not wander about."

"papazou (meaning 'to wander around')"
Diff:
# 趴趴走 趴趴走 [pa1 pa1 zou3] /(Tw) to wander all around/to run all over the place/to rush around/(from Taiwanese 拋拋走, Tai-lo pr. [pha-pha-tsáu])/
+ 趴趴走 趴趴走 [pa1 pa1 zou3] /(Tw) to wander about/to roam around freely/(from Taiwanese 拋拋走, Tai-lo pr. [pha-pha-tsáu])/
