his wikipedia biography doesn't mention any revolutionary activity
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wong_Fei-hung
-------------------------------------

Editor:
1) He died in 1925.

2) In Wikipedia, he was described as a "revolutionary folk hero" until 2015:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wong_Fei-hung&oldid=681799782

Then in an edit marked as "m" (minor change), that was altered to just "folk hero".
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wong_Fei-hung&oldid=681800011

That doesn't sound like a minor change to me. But anyway ...

At least in movies, he is portrayed as a Xinhai revolutionary hero: "Wong secretly helps the revolutionaries and pretends he has nothing to do with them. ...Wong feigns death to put the governor off guard, and then disguises himself and infiltrates the secret agents' base. With his help, the revolutionaries successfully attack and destroy the base."

The Britannica article on Jet Li says "In Tsui’s 1991 film Wong Fei-hung (Once Upon a Time in China), Li played his most famous character, the historical martial arts master Wong Fei-hung, who fought against injustice and foreign encroachment at the end of the Qing dynasty."
