More accurate and informative this way because the Chinese pronunciation (chūzhī) is unrelated to the Japanese pronunciation (dashi).

The Japanese word is not usually written entirely in kanji, but when it is, it is written as 出汁, which, if read as if it were a Chinese word, is pronounced chūzhī.

It's a similar situation with Japanese place names such as Yokohama (横滨). The Jp and Ch pronunciations are totally different.

There may be some other entries that we should rewrite using "orthographic borrowing from Japanese". I'll have a look.

Editor: ok, sure
Diff:
- 出汁 出汁 [chu1 zhi1] /dashi (soup stock used in Japanese cuisine) (loanword from Japanese)/
+ 出汁 出汁 [chu1 zhi1] /dashi (soup stock used in Japanese cuisine) (orthographic borrowing from Japanese)/
