1) ii

2) Best defined as a verb rather than a noun ("puncture").

3) Examples (literal sense)
萬一輪胎被尖銳石壁戳破,荒郊野外的,能找誰修車?
And in the desolate mountains, where could he find a repair shop if a tire had been punctured by a sharp stone?

看到路旁的小驢、小羊被迫要吃那幾乎會「戳破喉嚨」的枯草時,
seeing roadside mules and lambs reduced to eating grass so dry and hard it could cut your throat,

4) Figurative sense:
"to expose" is not quite appropriate.
The object of the transitive verb 戳破 is the *apparent* nature of sth (see examples below),
... whereas the object of "expose" is (usually) the *true* nature of sth.

For example, in (c), the grammatical object of 戳破 is (熱鬧滾滾的)假象, i.e. a facade.
What is "exposed" is the reality that lies behind the facade, 艱難處境 (the dire straits of local TV series production).

a) 數十年來他舉證歷歷,戳破他人表裡不合一的虛偽氣球,
Over the decades, he has torn the cover off countless scandals and political hypocrisy.

b) 戳破資本社會的表象;
strips the façade of neoliberal capitalism;

c) 偶像劇一部接著一部上檔,似乎沒有停滯的跡象,但日漸低迷的收視率,卻又戳破了熱鬧滾滾的假象,暴露了當前台灣戲劇的艱難處境。
Though idol dramas keep coming off the production line with no sign of stopping, given the state that ratings are mired in, there should be no illusions-such programs are by no means all fun-and-games money spinners, and in fact locally made TV series look to be in dire straits.

d) 初期治療時,小可的圖,內容總是東一個、西一個,呈現分裂性空間。態度上,則是嘻皮笑臉,一副滿不在乎的樣子,完全與他的內在情感相反。有一張圖,他畫了三座墳墓,一座是爺爺,一座是奶奶,一座是媽媽。儘管治療師陸雅青胸中已經捕捉到小可的問題所在,但她並不直接戳破。
As part of his psychological treatment Hsiao Ke joined in art therapy. In the early stages, Hsiao Ke's pictures clearly reflected two realities, indicating his divided inner space. While he maintained an outward attitude of nonchalance and a hippie smile, this was exactly the opposite of what he was feeling inside. In one picture, he drew three graves-one was his grandfather's, one his grandmother's, and one his mother's. Although art therapist Liona Lu already had a pretty clear idea of the source of Hsiao Ke's problem, she did not broach it directly.
Diff:
- 戳破 戳破 [chuo1 po4] /puncture/to expose/
+ 戳破 戳破 [chuo1 po4] /to puncture/to pierce/(fig.) to destroy (the facade concealing an unpleasant reality)/
