You run across a lot of these cool types in Hsimenting. In fashion, they march in virtual lock step with their counterparts in Tokyo, and if it weren't for the familiar Mandarin and Taiwanese coming from their mouths, the visitor to Hsimenting might think he was in Harajuku, Tokyo's epicenter of youth fashion.

The most impressive digital content appears as multimedia.

In the broad sense, the term "digital content" can be applied to any informational content distributed or displayed on digital tools such as computers. However, some technofreaks who pursue whatever is newest, coolest and most fashionable might not agree. In their view, only works conceived and created using the latest digital technology are worthy of the name.

"More than 2,800 years ago, Chinese civilization emerged on the banks of the Yellow River. Flaming crucibles poured forth molten lead, forming such vessels as the Maogong Cauldron, a nearly 35-kilogram vessel. On the belly of the cauldron were inscribed 497 characters in seal script, telling of an alliance between two kingdoms.... At the beginning of the new century, a Westerner seeking out the latest trends travels to the East, discovering this ancient script in the National Palace Museum. 'Wow! This is so cool!' he says. He goes to a tattoo parlor and has the characters tattooed on his back. This man found what he was looking for at the National Palace Museum."

As Amy chats with the customers, three familiar faces stroll by. They're a really biang bunch (biang is slang for "cool"). Chun has two syringe tubes tied in her hair, and is wearing a fluffy little pastel-blue skirt and wooden clogs. Wei-wei is wearing a red denim hat over a blond wig. Chih, in the meantime, has gotten Chun to apply eyebrow pencil and eye shadow to his (yes, his!) handsome if still slightly childish face.
