Wiktionary says: From Min Nan, possibly 楗 (kēng) or 矜 (keng), which are both pronounced as [king] in MoE Minnan dictionary.. would make more sense than geng1, i guess?

Editor: Actually 楗 is written as "kīng" in MoE Minnan rather than "king", but whichever ...
