The "rhyme tail" is the "coda" (also meaning "tail"). - "medial" (which isn't a vowel) refers to the part between the consonantal onset and the rhyme, i.e. /j/, /w/, /y/ in Chinese (qia, chua, lüe) I think "coda" is enough of a definition, but if we add more, it would be something like "part of the syllable that follows the vocalic nucleus". |
