It's optimized as a Chinese-to-English dictionary, not the reverse. We don't clutter the definitions of Chinese words with multiple spellings of the same word, or include superfluous synonyms, etc. That's why cc-cedict's format guidelines specify that we use American English: "American English should be used for the English definitions." https://cc-cedict.org/wiki/format:syntax#basic_format (It's not because we are Americans, btw. Most of the people currently volunteering on cc-cedict aren't American.) If you want to go from English to Chinese, use an English-Chinese dictionary instead, such as Cambridge.
