1) Écu --> écu
(see the spelling used in quotes below

2) "from 13th century" is ambiguous
- could mean it was used only in the 13th century (this is what I assumed at first)
- could mean that it is still in use and has been since the 18th century
Both are incorrect.

- The first écu was a gold coin (the écu d'or) minted during the reign of Louis IX of France, in 1266.
- The écu disappeared during the French Revolution [which ended in 1799].
