If you say "I rented a car" or "we are renting this factory", the default assumption is that you *used* the car and you are *using* the factory. 2) I don't think the 2nd gloss (lend-lease) is justified. - It's not in other dictionaries. - Wp's Chinese article on the wartime Lend-Lease policy is titled 租借法案, and the word 租用 doesn't appear in the article at all. - Baidu Baike article is also titled 租借法案 "租用法案" lend-lease - 7 results "租借法案" lend-lease - 2,560 results 3) I added "from sb" because you can rent equipment, for example, *to* sb, and that's not 租用. |
