neither "firm eye contact" nor "think highly" nor "good graces" is much fitting in typical examples:
葉怡蘭以她對網路與美食的深厚基礎獲得青睞 Yeh Yilan was a coveted candidate...
鋼筋水泥房子自然較受青睞 concrete construction is naturally more appealing...

this word is used 118 times on TP, mostly in constructs like 受青睞

青眼 however, is not used once (same thing on J). In fact I am not even sure of the word's category.
Diff:
# history:
# M's original
# + 青睞 青睐 [qing1 lai4] /to look at sb with firm eye contact/fig. to favor/good graces/think highly of sb/
# + 青眼 青眼 [qing1 yan3] /to make firm eye contact with sb/fig. to favor/to respect/good graces/to think highly of sb/
# Mr K's change. Name a dict, any dict...
# however, in A, "favor" was intended as a noun, not a verb
# + 青睞 青睐 [qing1 lai4] /to favor/to think highly of/one's good graces/
- 青眼 青眼 [qing1 yan3] /to make firm eye contact with sb/fig. to favor/to respect/good graces/to think highly of sb/
+ 青眼 青眼 [qing1 yan3] /lit. (to look) with a direct gaze/fig. respect/favor/
- 青睞 青睐 [qing1 lai4] /to favor/to think highly of/one's good graces/
+ 青睞 青睐 [qing1 lai4] /(lit.) to fix one's gaze on/(fig.) to show interest in/(favorable) attention/favor/
