<< review queue entry 61368 - submitted by 'ycandau' >> "preface" I think is sth I would say more of the author talking about his book etc., especially for a literary work. 1. GF@绪言 跟“序言”不同。“序言”不是著作的内容;而“绪言”是著作内容的组成部分 "Words Into Type succinctly characterizes the differences between a preface and intro: "A preface or foreword deals with the genesis, purpose, limitations, and scope of the book and may include acknowledgments of indebtedness; an introduction deals with the subject of the book, supplementing and introducing the text and indicating a point of view to be adopted by the reader. The introduction usually forms a part of the text [and the text numbering system]; the preface does not." (that's my experience, in the scientific domain at least) other dicts may not be as affirmative M 書籍或論文的導言文字。也作「導言」、「緒論」 still, 導言 is "introduction'; and M doesn't say 序言 (which has a different def) 2. 绪论 may appear in book titles: 法学绪论 (Introduction to...) 3. here is the content of a book 第一章:绪论(约半周); 第二章:秦及汉初作家(约一周) 绪论 is not before the main matter 4. 緒論 appears a lot in the context of theses, where discussions here and there seem to point to what I'd never call a preface. -------------------- Editor: That's pretty convincing. |
