this is more a question about my English.
Although the dict def of 'incumbent' fits exactly 现任, I have a feeling that I have always seen this word in election context, when talking about the incumbent AND another person.
For instance, would you say that Trump is the incumbent Pres of the US (in 2017)?
Diff:
- 現任 现任 [xian4 ren4] /to occupy a post currently/incumbent/
+ 現任 现任 [xian4 ren4] /to occupy a post currently/current (president etc)/incumbent/
