"imperial objects" might not not be clear, in this sense 神器 are objects that symbolize imperial power, such as thrones, imperial jade seals, etc. (note the examples in LAC)

About the "artifact" in the translation: 神器 is very common in video games and other kinds of popular culture, they're usually some kind of ancient object with magical powers are are generally translated as "artifact". Some examples:

当她死去后,她变成了一个可怕的扭曲契灵,不断找寻着重返她那些散落在全世界的神器之内的机会。
When she died, she became a hideously twisted vestige, forever seeking to re-enter the Realms via numerous artifacts she dispersed across the world.

如同魔法神器一样,整个战役可以基于这些传奇遗物。
Like magical artifacts, these are legendary relics that whole campaigns can be based around.

第二个则是武具,属于神器的副类别。
The second one is Equipment, which is a subtype of artifact.

Editor: thanks for explaining your sub in detail. It helps.
I did consult more dicts, and ponder their defs and examples.
in particular I think 'artifact' is not enlightening (it's 'magical artifact' in full), and 'magical object' covers it
Diff:
# 神器 神器 [shen2 qi4] /imperial objects (arch.)/imperial power (fig.)/magical object (esp. weapon)/artifact/
+ 神器 神器 [shen2 qi4] /magical object/object symbolic of imperial power/fine weapon/
