Chinese dicts say 杏眼 refers to large, round eyes rather than "almond-shaped eyes"; and in any case, in English, the term "almond eyes" is almost invariably used to mean "Asian eyes" or eyes of Asian appearance, rather than eyes that are actually almond-shaped. And 杏眼 certainly doesn't mean "Asian eyes" – not all Chinese are said to have 杏眼.
