<< review queue entry 60164 - submitted by 'sl89' >> I think it makes sense to note that samurai is not the Japanese pronunciation for 武士. ---------------------------------- Editor: There's no suggestion in the current definition that 武士 is pronounced "samurai" in Japanese. Moreover, "from the Japanese 武士 bushi" is ambiguous -- it could be taken to mean that the word 武士 originated in Japan, whereas early use of the Chinese word appears to predate its use in Japan in the sense of samurai. |
