<< review queue entry 89865 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> Baidu Baike defines 锅驼机 as 锅炉、蒸汽机连在一起的动力机器 and describes it as a compact integrated power unit used to drive pumps, generators, threshers, rice mills, oil presses, saws and other machinery. The existing "portable steam engine" is somewhat misleading, since 锅驼机 could be either fixed or mobile (BB ~ 固定式和移动式 -- only some had wheels and could be moved). Baike says it was used particularly in the early 20th century and has now essentially been superseded, hence "(historical)". |
