The Wikipedia account says the exact origins are unclear, and the strongest historical evidence traces Boysen's plant to a dewberry–loganberry parent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boysenberry#History Since loganberry itself has hybrid ancestry, trying to reduce the boysenberry to simply "hybrid of raspberry and blackberry" turns an uncertain and complicated pedigree into a deceptively definite two-parent description. Chinese Wikipedia has 波森莓 as a redirect to its boysenberry article, titled 博伊森莓. (波森莓 has about 4x as many GV results, though) Baike has an article that begins "波森莓(学名:Boysenberry)..." |
