I can only find it in M and HDC, both of which support it with old citations, and there don't seem to be very many Google results for it. More generally, I think that when a proposed addition is found only in one or two dictionaries, especially dictionaries that include a lot of old or literary vocabulary, and there is little readily available evidence of actual usage, the onus is on the submitter to provide examples showing that the term merits inclusion in CEDICT. At a minimum, the context in which the submitter encountered the word can be quoted. If the context was a dictionary entry only, then that should be indicated in the submission (and the submitter should perhaps consider whether there is sufficient reason to submit the word in the first place). The fact that a term appears in a dictionary establishes that it exists or existed, but doesn't necessarily mean that we should include it. Please feel free to resubmit if you can provide usage or other evidence that makes a good case for adding it. |
