<< review queue entry 88864 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> I think I got this wrong. I think 闲置 is fundamentally transitive in meaning, as suggested by the character 置, which is transitive "put" rather than intransitive "lie". K "to leave idle; to set aside" And if I had looked a little harder, I would have found clear transitive usage like: But I think the great majority of usage would be rendered in English with an intransitive phrase like "lie idle", so, like NA, whose definition is "to leave unused; let sth lie idle; (of sth) gather dust", I am proposing to retain "to lie idle", even though I don't think it would be wrong to leave it out. |
