Country+人 and country+语 compounds (e.g. 法国人, 土耳其语) are conventionally capitalized in most dictionaries, presumably because the connection with the underlying country name remains particularly salient, but I don't think 法国号 belongs in that category. BTW, English has similar cases: words such as "Turk" and "Turkish" retain the capital letter of the associated place name, whereas common nouns such as "turquoise", "cashmere", "damask" and "muslin", although ultimately derived from place names*, are usually written lowercase. * Turkey, Kashmir, Damascus, Mosul |
