<< review queue entry 87443 - submitted by 'kbaiko' >> This entry was last processed (exactly) a year ago, and we created it under the assumption that each traditional-simplified-pinyin combination in a word should have a corresponding character entry. For example, if we have 中國|中国[Zhong1guo2], then we need to have these: - 中[zhong1] - 國|国[guo2] And since we have 彷彿|仿佛[fang3fu2], we created this entry. But we've had additional discussions since then, including one on word-level vs character-level simplification (came up with 份子 and 分子, then again with 座標 and 坐标). So it seems like we should either: 1. Not have this entry, and document these word-level simplification cases somewhere (maybe the wiki) 2. Include similar "used in" entries for 份|分[fen4] and 座|坐[zuo4] ---------------------- Editor: We decided to document these cases in the wiki, rather than in entries like this one (彷|仿[fang3]). https://cc-cedict.org/wiki/syntax_v2#traditional_and_simplified_characters (in the section starting with "In rare cases, characters are simplified based on “word-level simplification”, ...") |
