I think that term may well be worth adding, but it seems 起搏器 is commonly used as a standalone term, and when it is, it usually corresponds to the default medical sense of pacemaker ("a small machine that is placed inside someone's chest in order to help their heart beat regularly" -- Longman). So I don't think 起搏器 should be deleted, nor does its current definition seem unreasonably narrow. And if we retain it, I'd still say that we don't also need an entry for 心脏起搏器. (Existing entry: 起搏器 起搏器 [[qi3bo2qi4]] /pacemaker (medical device)/) Terms such as 脑起搏器 and 膈肌起搏器 exist, and they show that 起搏器 can be extended by modification to other types of device, but they don't seem sufficient to overturn the ordinary meaning of unmodified 起搏器. |
