The examples suggest that 忌廉味 simply means "cream-flavored", as in 忌廉味汽水 "cream soda", 曲奇忌廉味 "cookies-and-cream flavor", 酸忌廉味 "sour cream flavor" etc. That said, I am also hesitant to add either 忌廉味 or 忌廉 itself to CEDICT. Although these are clearly used in Hong Kong commercial/product language, they appear to be fundamentally Cantonese vocabulary rather than terms that are well integrated into general Mandarin usage. If we add items like this, it becomes difficult to draw a boundary between Mandarin vocabulary and the much larger body of Cantonese lexical items used in written HK Chinese. |
