<< review queue entry 86560 - submitted by 'aaronwong' >> the simplified word should be 𰰨, not 芲, which is a variant form of 花。 ---------------------- Editor: While 𰰨 would be the expected simplified form in theory (侖 → 仑), there is no evidence of actual usage. The example given in both HDC and LA is 「其木宜蚖、菕與杜、松(《管子‧地員》)」, so I searched for various forms of the phrase 「菕與杜」. Google (verbatim) searches return no examples of "𰰨与杜" (0 hits), whereas 菕 is attested even in simplified Chinese contexts ("菕与杜" → ~246 hits). (For comparison, in traditional contexts, "菕與杜" → ~374 hits.) The form 芲 does occur occasionally ("芲与杜" → a handful of hits), likely as a visual substitute, but it is not etymologically related and should not be treated as the simplified form of 菕. In the absence of an attested simplified form, we use the traditional form (in this case, 菕) in place of a simplified form. |
