Although it's in several dictionaries, others (including LA, M, NC, GF & Kuraishi) don't include that sense. The example sentences in dictionaries that do have an entry for it contain phrases like "...真火势" or "...挺火势", but googling those phrases doesn't yield very much. * * * Examples such as 火势蔓延 and 火势从一楼连到八楼 show that 火势 includes spatial propagation as well as intensity. "Intensity and spread" seems more accurate than "intensity" alone. |
