By contrast, 回车键 is a *key*. Its function in modern computing is typically equivalent to Enter, and semantically closer to a combined CR-LF than to a pure CR. It's accurate to say that 回车键 is literally "carriage return key", but not that it *means* "carriage return". Since the entry is for the key rather than the action or control character, I don’t think it's helpful to include "carriage return" as a standalone gloss here. |
