<< review queue entry 84059 - submitted by 'agedits' >> marked as idiom Btw, I compared the pinyin of CC-CEDICT to the Oxford Dictionary 牛津英汉汉英词典 and losely to the ABC Dictionary. Disregarding 1 character entries (don't need spell check), proper names (mostly written like v2), and v2 entries, I identified 27220 entries that would need a proper look at in order to call the upgrade to v2 mostly done. Would that be a good starting point? Or will you go from top to bottom? --------------------- Editor: > Or will you go from top to bottom? You mean from (pinyin) A to Z? Then no. > Would that be a good starting point? We calculated 76321 v1 entries with more than 1 character that aren't a proper noun. So I'm not sure how you get 27220. But either way (76k or 27k), it's a daunting figure, so I wouldn't use the word "point" (as in "starting point"). Sometimes we look at all the v1 entries containing a given character. Sometimes we look at a random selection of about ten v1 entries. So it's more like "chipping away" at v1, rather than trying to work through big set of tens of thousands of entries. (Don't forget, we are checking the definitions at the same time, not just the pinyin format. If it was just the pinyin, it would go a lot faster.) But that "chipping away" work has slowed in recent months because we have had a lot of new submissions to process. |
