目前,大多数的传统市场主要存在中国大陆的中小城市,但是大城市像北京、上海也有,只是由于大型跨国超市的进入,为数并不多。大多大陆传统市场属于农贸市场。

(the Chinese article that the Wp article "wet market" links to)

When I google "农贸市场", I get this ~
"See results about:
Wet market (传统市场)
A wet market is a marketplace selling fresh foods such as ..."

DS also says 农贸市场 means "wet market".
It contrasts the term with "farmers' market" as follows:

Feature / 农贸市场 (China) / Farmers' Market (West)
Goods / Live animals, imported fruit / Pre-cut meat, local/organic only
Frequency / Daily / Weekly/seasonal
Vendors / Professional stallholders / Actual farmers (+artisans)
Hygiene / "Messy" but regulated / Curated, aesthetic presentation

Comment by @weifang546 - "Wet market" is a name given by western medias. We call them 农贸市场(farmer trade markets) in China.

A wet market (also called a public market[4] or a traditional market[5]) is a marketplace selling fresh foods such as meat, fish, produce and other consumption-oriented perishable goods in a non-supermarket setting, as distinguished from "dry markets" that sell durable goods such as fabrics, kitchenwares and electronics.[6][10]
