抓狂 expresses emotional overload, but not specifically anger or panic necessarily.

"blow one's top" suggests an angry outburst, which is too narrow.

"become frantic" suggests rushed, panicked activity more than emotional overload.

(Tw)
Its origins are in Taiwanese Minnan dialect, according to K.
Similarly, M says
And although I believe it has spread to mainland usage, it remains Taiwanese in flavor, and is especially common in Taiwan.

Example usage from TP, selected and curated by CG to illustrate that "blow one's top" is too specific:

1. Physical pain causing desperation
Context: Describing how breast engorgement pain can drive someone nearly crazy — clearly emotional overload caused by physical pain, not anger.

2. Crowded shopping causing stress and frustration
Context: Overcrowding in a busy market that causes mental exhaustion and stress — clearly frustration/overwhelm, not an angry explosion.

3. Emotional exasperation watching repetitive melodrama
Context: Describes frustration and exasperation from watching a melodrama — an emotional overload that’s not simply “blowing one’s top.”

4. Caregiver’s emotional overload
Context: Shows the stress and helplessness of caregiving — emotional overload, not an angry outburst.

Other TP examples:
That is entirely correct. It is not just a technical problem, but the technical aspects alone are enough to drive computer experts crazy.

"Before the performing troupes have arrived, I don't dare to say how many of them will be coming," says Wu. For example, one year, because the government of one African country was taking strict precautions against the trafficking of children, the troupe was forbidden to come. In June some troupes promise they're still coming and then at the last minute the situation changes. Events that so much planning went into have to be reorganized. It's enough to drive one to distraction.

Although collecting ants is not particularly difficult, certain species with unusual habits can still drive people crazy. Lin Zongqi once spent seven or eight years searching before he was finally able to collect a single elusive species.

“It was really infuriating!” says Huang, describing the origins of the league. “It used to be that industry along the river would release waste water once a month at most. Then production ramped up, and every couple of days you could see the river water turning red or yellow.
