<< review queue entry 82698 - submitted by 'kbaiko' >> v2 loanwords Note, 鸡尾酒 was changed, loanword -> calque --------------------- Editor: 1) While Wikt (en & zh) state that 鸡尾酒 is a calque, CG insists that it's more accurate to say that it's an orthographic borrowing from a Japanese word that was a calque: "鸡尾酒 is a Chinese orthographic borrowing from Japanese 鶏尾酒, itself a calque of English “cocktail.” While 鶏尾酒 is now rare in Japanese, it survives as the standard form in Chinese." 2) 開麥拉 seems to be Tw and/or dated. Lots more G hits for the trad form, and the dicts that include it tend to be historical (HDC) or Tw-based (M & LA). Apparently, it's a word called out by a director when filming starts (like “Lights, camera, action!”).
