Seems to be a phrase, Pinyin segmentation as in the ABC-Dictionary
----------------------

Editor: I'll retain "what's the matter?" (although it's borderline in that it's not particularly idiomatic), and add another "sense" (or rather, usage pattern): (关...)什么事.

For the various other uses of 什么事, I'd suggest studying the meanings of 什么 and 事 individually — though not through CC-CEDICT, as our current entries for those two words need revision. For this purpose, you'd be better off consulting a dictionary that provides usage examples, or discussing it with a teacher.

Ex.
1. 蕾欧公司会议室外。
高挺英伟的欧辰有种逼人的压迫感。
他低头问珍恩:
“什么事?”

2. 人家管教孩子,關咱們什麼事。
Diff:
- 什麼事 什么事 [shen2 me5 shi4] /what?/which?/
# + 什麼事 什么事 [[shen2me5 shi4]] /what?; What's the matter?/which?/whatever; no matter what/

+ 什麼事 什么事 [[shen2me5 shi4]] /What's up?; Is something the matter?/(coll.) (used in rhetorical questions of the form 關|关[guan1] + {person} + 什麼事|什么事[shen2me5 shi4] "what business is it of {person}'s?; what's it to {person}?")/
