Editor:
1) Please don't supply references that are based on CC-CEDICT's entry.
For example, YellowBridge, ArchChinese, and Chinese.gratis all seem likely to have copied our definition "royal title".
It's useless to look up a reference that simply quotes back to us the definition we already have, and it wastes our time.

2) You appear to be misreading Wenlin's definition, "n. (wr./hist.) lordly/regal position/throne; lord/monarch".

Wenlin uses the slash to indicate that the words on either side of it are to be understood as alternatives.
So, in expanded form, Wenlin's definition is actually "lordly position; lordly throne; regal position; regal throne; lord; monarch".

CC-CEDICT, on the other hand, uses the slash to separate distinct senses of the headword.

3) Instead of copying what other dictionaries say, please examine usage of the word, and submit a revised definition based on what you find in the usage. Or, if you find that our current definition is adequate, leave it at that, rather than adding a series of synonyms.

Also, if you have difficulty finding usage, it might be best not to submit. We focus mainly on words that are useful in understanding contemporary Chinese.
