<< review queue entry 81451 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> Seems to be an uncommon word and, with its characters 转 and (especially) 抵, the definition "convert, exchange" doesn't seem likely to be very accurate . Among the dictionaries I checked, only one (K) has an entry for it, but the definition is different: "transferred collateral, remortgage". I propose to delete the entry unless we can identify a sense that can be supported by usage. ---------- Editor: Original submission (2008-01-06) https://cc-cedict.org/editor/editor.php?log_id=2366&return=ListChanges&handler=ViewLogEntry Article that came out the same day http://news.bbc.co.uk/chinese/simp/hi/newsid_7170000/newsid_7173500/7173564.stm The first 13 entries in the submission all appear in that article, including terms one is very unlikely to see like "Zogby International (polling company)". And furthermore there is the dubious definition of + 擠到 挤到 [ji3 dao4] /to squeeze (an opponent into third place)/ which appears in the article as "更把她挤到第三位" And on the same page is a link to this article, http://news.bbc.co.uk/chinese/simp/hi/newsid_7170000/newsid_7172600/7172666.stm, which has 转抵 in the title. So I'm quite confident that's where he got this entry from. After reading the article, my conclusion is - 抵 refers to 抵达 - 转抵 means sth like "changed locations and arrived at" - I agree with deleting this entry |
