These look the same but are actually different characters: 畲 and 畬 (yeah, I know right?) The first one has a 佘 on top. The second one has a 余. We are treating 畬 as the traditional form of 畲, which is not the case. As far as I know the characters are not related (other than through typos). They are simplified/traditional forms of themselves. Unfortunately, all our entries for these characters need adjusting. 畲 (with 佘), is She1 and refers to 畲族, an ethnic group. 畬 (with 余), is both she1 and yu2, and is related to farming. In addition: - We are missing 畬[she1] - 斫畬 should be [zhuo2she1] instead of [zhuo2yu2] - I think 畬鄉|畲乡[yu2 xiang1] should be 畲乡[She1xiang] and refers to 景宁畲乡 (first two entries). If it meant "fields and villages" then naturally "fields" would be 畬, but I couldn't find any results for 畬乡, besides typos for 畲乡 Perhaps the "erroneous variant of ..." cross-reference could be added too. ------------------ Editor: Deleting the 景宁畲乡 entry, as discussed. |
