<< review queue entry 79502 >> see 牵手, e.g. 牵我的手 https://streetvoice.com/collage7275/songs/591702/ 牽我的魂 牽我的雙手 Hold my soul, hold my hands ------------------- Editor: The song is sung in Taiwanese, not Mandarin, and CC-CEDICT is not a Taiwanese-English dictionary. It's not clear what you mean by "hold my soul". Are you sure it's not "guide my soul"? (The singer is addressing a higher spiritual entity, and the lyrics are a plea for guidance and support through life’s challenges and the cycle of life and death.) Check out the various senses of 牽 in this dictionary of Taiwanese: https://www.moedict.tw/'%E7%89%BD "to guide" is there (引導、帶領), but not "to hold". Even in the Mandarin word 牵手, which is often translated as "hold hands", 牵 is not really just "to hold". One Mandarin definition of 牵手 is 手拉著手, and of course 拉著 is not the same as "hold". |
