<< review queue entry 79498 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> "prayer" can be taken to mean a) a prayer (countable noun) b) the act of praying (uncountable noun) I think 祈祷 is (b), not (a). If that's the case, "prayer" is - redundant (implied by the verb sense), and - potentially misleading. Most dictionary definitions don't have a sense that could be construed as "a prayer". LA, for example: 信仰宗教的人向所信奉的神致敬默告,祈福免災。 例 「祈禱上天」、「在教堂虔誠祈禱」。 NA ~ to pray; say one's prayers "a prayer" can be translated as 祈禱文. e.g. 最後會眾一排排地手握著手,聆聽教長唸祈禱文,儀式就結束了。 |
