Because cultivating these pears requires a great deal of capital and the latest technology, plus a considerable investment in manpower, gaojie pears have a high unit price. In the past, in addition to relying on the farmers' association to transport and sell the fruit, most of the marketing depended on so-called "jobbers," large-scale wholesalers." |
