Besides not being recognized as a Chinese compound by many software products, and besides being unable to write the pinyin field, It would be very messy to start adding numerals and symbols to chem. names. As the molecules get bigger, there is an explosion of combinations. We shouldn't need to define 2-氯-4-碘吡啶 as 2-Chloro-4-iodopyridine when we already have defined 氯=chlorine, 碘=iodine, and 吡啶=pyridine.
