Pretty much always used in 耷拉, meaning "to droop". Can't find much usage of 耷 by itself - but every dictionary I checked says it means "large ear", as one might guess from the composition of 大 + 耳.
----------------------------

Editor: If usage of 耷 "by itself" as a verb is hard to find, why define it as a verb?
If dictionaries indicate that it just means 大耳朵, why propose that it means "to droop"?
Diff:
- 耷 耷 [da1] /ears hanging down/
# + 耷 耷 [[da1]] /(literary) large ear/to droop/
+ 耷 耷 [[da1]] /(literary) big ears/
